MEET THE MAKERS: RAWLUXE INTERIORS

RawLuxe Interiors is an innovative and inspiring interiors brand creating beautiful products for your home made from natural, raw products. We’re lucky enough to stock their gorgeous wares in store for you to fall in love with and take home with you. Here, Lauren Vunisa, Founder and Creative Director of RawLuxe Interiors, chats to us about where she finds inspiration, her must-haves and advice for turning your home into a lush retreat.

Tell us a bit about what you do and your seriously beautiful brand, RawLuxe Interiors.

I create texturally luxe homewares from woe to go, including the initial design, prototype, mould creation and finishing touches before it goes out to our amazing customers. It’s a huge amount of work, but each stage is so interesting and an opportunity to discover new techniques.

What do you love most about what you do?

Creating pieces that work together in a cohesive way, that bring texture and a sense of beauty. The design process, sitting with a piece of paper and pencil, scribbling away, is definitely what I love most.

What’s your favourite product in stock right now?

I’m obsessed with our Qubo stand. Its just the perfect marriage between concrete and metal and with the minimalist design of a really thin metal frame and the curve of the half moon bowl, it is everything that I am loving at the moment, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Who or what inspires you?

I love architecture and fashion, and, of course, other designers in the industry are always a source of inspiration. I’m a sucker for minimalist designs from boutiques such as Ferm Living and Hay and I love mixing textures. I’m on wood at the moment and can’t get away from @woodwoven on Instagram.

We believe life should be lived in beautiful, inspiring spaces. What are your must-haves when creating a beautiful and inspiring space?

Every space should have a dose of concrete of course, black metal framed furniture or windows, a hint of brass and a presence of wood for warmth. Artwork is always required to draw the eye in and a plethora of textured cushions is important.

What is you favourite plant or flower and why?

Currently it’s the string of pearls succulent. I have so many images of this beauty and I am searching for the perfect specimen for my own home. I think the way it falls and the detail of each string is just gorgeous.(We stock these at the nursery, so pop on in to get one of your own!)

What one piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to transform their home into a beautiful retreat?

Fill it with natural textures and loads of greenery.

What’s your favourite way to spend a Sunday?

We are a big movie family, so I love to be cuddled up with my girls and hubby watching a movie or down by the beach for some fish and chips. No more dinner dates here, I’m such a nana and end up in bed the same time as my two year old.

What’s next for RawLuxe Interiors? What are you looking forward to right now?

I’m looking forward to launching my styling services, which will be available online and on location within Sydney, and I’m planning on creating an art series, I just need to find the time to get my paintbrush in hand.
